Numb: The True Story chapter 14"Oh wow, I think she's waking up!"
My vision faded in from the black of my sleep. I found myself lying in an unfamiliar room, with two Pokémon looking down at me.
My thoughts were reeling. "Who are you?" I croaked. Oh man, my throat's so sore...how long have I been asleep?
One of them, an Aron, hurried out of the room. The other, which I recognized as a Togetic, smiled nervously at me.
"I'm Jess. That was Danny," she said. "It's Mimi, right? Mr. Shadow's been so worried about you!"
Who is Shadow? Where am I? I would have asked these questions out loud, but my throat hurt too much.
"Mimi," Jess said gently, "I was told to tell you something when you woke up."
I gave her a curious look, wondering what it was. She tried to smile. "Today is June 24th."
"We're in a house belonging to...Leo Forge," she continued, sounding unsure, "and you've been asleep for a while. Since you got here, really. Back in...April."
I stared at her in disbelief

Oh, yeah. I said it, that one time. Meg thought it was the coolest thing. No wonder she used it in her story.
My reasons...what are my reasons? I guess I never really thought about it. Maybe Meg has some ideas, but this is something I should know.
I pull on my big purple boots and my purple winter coat, heading outside to go next door. I tromp over to her front door, knocking on it a few times. Karcie answers, being home from college to visit her sisters and mom. She lets me in and closes the door, heading back to the kitchen to do homework I assume.
Claire sees me from the living room, and waves. I lift my hand in answer as I head to the stairs, jumping up them two at a time. I pass Cassandra lying on the hallway floor, curled up around the family cat. I give the feline and my friend each a quick pat on the head before arriving at Meg and Cass's room, kicking the door to let her know I'm there before
